Barbara’s work starts with voice, passes through the physical and results in a character. This workshop will give you tangible ways of developing the full potential of your voice and connecting deeply with any text in a way that is authentic and engaging – whether for stage or screen.

The workshop will be highly practical and tailored to the priorities of those attending.

Barbara Houseman has worked in theatre for more than forty years. Having initially divided her time between Directing and Voice Work, she spent six years in the world renowned Voice Department at the Royal Shakespeare Company then became Associate Director at the Young Vic. For the last 22 years she has worked freelance as a Voice, Text and Acting coach and Associate Director and Director.

Förberedelse: Participants are asked to prepare one or two short monologues in English which they would like to find a deeper connection and authenticity.

A copy of each piece with the correct punctuation

Notebook and pen – if they wish to make notes

Klädsel:

Comfortable clothing in which it is easy to breathe and to move

Layers so that they can add or subtract these layers depending on whether we are doing floor work or moving around
